What is the life of the network technician like

Andreas Mather, IT network technology

WorldSkills 2007

In 2007 Andreas Mather took part in WorldSkills in Shizuoka in the IT network technology competition. “The country and the atmosphere at the competitions were very impressive. A great experience, ”says Mather, who returned from Japan with a ninth place and a" Medallion for Excellence ".

“The World Cup went absolutely ok for me. I didn't have any great expectations in advance.

The participants in the top ranks had a completely different preparation and were partly released for a whole year for their competition. I liked the great solidarity among the participants. It was more like togetherness than opposition. "

A lot has happened in the life of the former WorldSkills participant since then. After a short phase as a network technician, he returned to IBM Austria, where he had already completed his apprenticeship. Mather then became co-managing director of allaboutapps, a successful and award-winning smartphone app developer. “In the meantime I have withdrawn operationally from allaboutapps. I am currently working independently on a project for a financial and trading software, ”he says, looking ahead to an exciting future.

In the course of WorldSkills, Mather expanded his network of contacts. “A lot of people have already noticed that I'm competing in the World Championships. Professionally, that helped me a lot, especially at the beginning. ”After that, Mather helped with the preparation for EuroSkills, creating tasks and exercises for the participants in the background during the preliminary rounds. His conclusion: "I would recommend anyone who has the opportunity to take part."
